A group of students from Wro Kelemwork and Meskerem secondary schools recently embarked on an immersive journey into the world of applied science and technology during a special visit to the Ethiopian Science Museum, facilitated by STEEP. The excursion transformed abstract curricular concepts into a hands-on exploration of innovation, with museum educators leading dynamic sessions that prioritized critical inquiry and real-world connections.

Leveraging platform data from HaHuJobs, this report assesses the structural composition of Ethiopia’s evolving digital labour market. An analysis of vacancy and applicant trends between 2023 and 2025 reveals a pronounced concentration of activity within select geographic regions and educational demographics, highlighting significant disparities in digital access and labour market participation. By examining the representation of specific regions and qualification levels, alongside intersecting gender dynamics, this analysis identifies the populations currently underserved by online hiring channels and proposes evidence-based strategies to bridge Ethiopia’s emerging employment divide.

STEEP facilitated an educational visit to the Ethiopian Science Museum for students from Belay Zeleke and Higher 12 Secondary High Schools, offering direct exposure to applied science and technology within a national innovation space. The visit centered on permanent exhibits designed to translate scientific concepts into observable systems, allowing students to connect academic learning with tangible outcomes. Throughout the tour, museum educators guided students through structured explanations, encouraging observation, questioning, and analytical thinking aligned with secondary education curricula.

The third STEEP field visit brought students from Millennium Secondary School to General Winget Polytechnic College for a focused learning experience centered on STEM education pathways. The visit was conducted as part of STEEP shared activities and aimed to strengthen awareness of technical and vocational education and training options available after secondary school.

On Tuesday, December 16, education stakeholders gathered at Kokebe Tsibah High School to strengthen the sustainable linkage between high schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions. The workshop was designed to move beyond administrative formalities and focus on creating a functional, lasting bridge between secondary education and technical career pathways.
